ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH

•  PNI Institute for Old Slavonic Culture – Prilep will perform protective archaeological researches at the site “Markovi Kuli”, Varosh-Prilep, southwest from the church “St.Demetrios”. The researches will be performed in the period between 01.06 and 30.06.2007 under the leadership of Branislav Risteski PhD, archaeologist, high scientific associate. The finances for the researches are provided by the NGO “Forum for avant-garde creativity” –Prilep.

•  The Museum of the City of Skopje will perform sounding archaeological research at the site “Gradishte” at the village Taor, at several positions along the fortification from the south and west side of the settlement. The research that will be performed between 06.06 and 19.06.2007 will be lead by Kiro Ristov MA, archaeologist, senior custodian. The Council of the City of Skopje-Sector for Public Affairs provides the finances for the conveying of these researches.

•  The Faculty of Philosophy, Institute for Art History and Archaeology-Skopje, will perform systematic archaeological research at the site “Vardarski Rid” at Gevgelija in the period between 01.06 and 15.07.2007. The research will be developed at a surface of about 250m2, in the Sector-East terrace, i.e. in the space around the so-called “House of the Collector”. The research will be lead by Prof. Dragi Mitrevski PhD, archaeologist and the co-head W.J.Neidinger, archaeologist from the Foundation for Archaeological and Historical Research, Texas, USA (TFAHR). The Project is financed by the Ministry of Culture of RM, the Faculty of Philosophy-Skopje, and the Foundation for Archaeological and Historical Research-Texas.

•  The Museum of the city of Negotino in the period between 01.06 and 10.07.2007 will perform sounding archaeological researches at the site “Gradishte” at Negotino. The research works that will be implemented through three sounds will include about 75m2 in the south, north, and medial part of the settlement. The research will be lead by Kiro Angelovski, archaeologist, custodian-advisor. The Ministry of Culture and the local self-government finance the Project.

•  NI Conservation Center – Skopje, in the framework of the Project for conservation-restoration interventions will perform sounding archaeological researched at the church St.Nicholas, village Ljubanci. Sounds will be placed at the eastern, northern, and medial part of the church, and in its interior. The research works will be performed in the period between 20.06 and 10.07.2007, under the leadership of Dafina Mihailova, archaeologist, senior conservator. The finances for this Project are provided from the Annual program of the Ministry of Culture.

•  NI Museum of Macedonia – Skopje will perform systematic archaeological researches at the site “Golemo Gradishte”, village Konjuh, in the period between 18.06 and 05.08.2007. The research works will be developed in Sector II, i.e. on the northern terrace of the site, under the leadership of Goran Sanev, archaeologist-custodian and Prof. Carolyn C. Snivley PhD, from the “Gettysburg” College. The finances for the implementation of the researches are provided from the grant awarded by “Loeb Classical Library” from Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA and the “”Gettysburg” College, Pennsylvania, USA.
